Explore the Pacific Coast!

Sun and sand can be downright bewitching. When you find your way to Laguna Niguel for Symposium 2022, stay a few extra days and make room for a long list of great outings in Southern California. Don’t miss out on an historic wooden roller coaster, roadside dinosaurs, wine tours, or a vintage burger joint—only in California!

Whale and Dolphin Watching

Dana Point, nestled on a cliffside about 20 minutes from Laguna Beach, brings a great mix of luxury and legendary surfing. You can also enjoy incredible views of a thriving blend of marine wildlife, including humpbacks, gray whales, seals, and several species of dolphins. Gray whales migrate south between January and March, and humpbacks are also known to be in the region at that time of year.

Temecula Valley Wine Country

Savor any of the hundreds of award-winning wines from Temecula Valley Wine Country while enjoying the region’s irresistible charm. Widely recognized as the jewel of Riverside County, Temecula is a little more than an hour’s drive from Laguna, and a collection of family-owned wineries is situated to make touring easy. While on the prowl for your favorite grape, you’ll also find incredible restaurants and charming gift shops.

Cabazon Dinosaurs

Built in 1964 just west of Palm Springs (about 90 minutes from Laguna), the Cabazon Dinosaurs have long been viewed an iconic roadside attraction. Featured in films and cult classics like Pee Wee Herman’s Big Adventure, you too can have your moment of fame—snap a selfie with Mr Rex and Miss Dinny (the 65-foot-tall T-Rex and 150-foot-long Brontosaurus, respectively).

The iconic “Big Dipper” roller coaster at Belmont Park featured in the center of this aerial photograph of Mission Beach in San Diego, California. The downtown skyline is visible in the distance. I shot this image nearing dusk after a storm had cleared from an altitude of about 300 feet during a helicopter photo flight.

Belmont Amusement Park

Opened in 1925, this historic beachfront park on Mission Beach is the only beachfront entertainment and amusement center in San Diego. Embark on a 90-minute drive from Laguna and you’ll find the quintessential beach adventure—a mix of tempting restaurants and heart-pumping rides, including the park’s iconic Giant Dipper Roller Coaster.

Original In-N-Out Burger Replica

Founded in 1948 in Baldwin Park (one hour northeast of Laguna), In-N-Out Burger was California’s (many say the world’s) first drive-through restaurant—the original space was barely 10 square feet. Founder Harry Snyder worked in his garage at night to pursue his vision of enabling guests to order and receive their meals without leaving their cars. His unique, two-way speaker box was introduced that first year. Beloved for serving the best burgers, this replica of the original stand was created to honor the food chain’s history. Bonus—there’s an actual In-N-Out Burger just on the other side of the freeway!
