Though it may make you think of one-legged buccaneers, the tower was built in 1926 by William E. Brown as an enclosed, private staircase to the beach. A later owner, himself a pirate aficionado, hid coins and candies in the tower’s cracks and crevices for area kids to enjoy while he shared stories of the sea. Parking can be difficult, and the tower can only be accessed at low tide, but enjoy that treasure hunting!
La Jolla Cove
Considered by many to be the prettiest beach in San Diego, La Jolla Cove boasts a picture-perfect coastline and a colony of sea lions relaxing on the rocks in the early morning. The La Jolla business district is nearby if you want to squeeze in some window shopping and dining.

It is a comfortable and safe ride that takes you to different parts of the city while you enjoy the scenic coastline.
The HIP District
With more than 100 galleries, Laguna has a lot to offer for those with an eye for the original. Check out the HIP District—short for Historic and Interesting Places—for chic boutiques, art (home to 16 of those galleries), a neighborhood bookstore, more than a dozen restaurants and quirky coffee shops, florists, jewelry and more. Spread over seven walkable streets that all lead to Laguna’s best beaches and hangouts, this is a great place to spend the day.
