The Invisalign Smile Architect ortho-restorative treatment planning software is a workflow within Align’s proprietary ClinCheck® orthodontic planning software platform that allows doctors to plan orthodontic tooth positioning in concert with the aesthetic smile design goal when restorative treatment follows orthodontia. Here, we present insights and case narratives from Invisalign®-certified thought leaders to demonstrate how they are using Invisalign Smile Architect to provide seamless comprehensive care.
The Invisalign Smile Architect Feature Sets Doctors up for Success
Our thought leaders find an intuitive, integrated treatment planning software platform not only benefits dentists, orthodontists, prosthodontists, and other healthcare experts and their patients, but also opens doors for collaborative opportunities. Read further to see what our thought leaders are saying.
When you first started using Invisalign Smile Architect, did you feel like the software workflow was designed with all dental professionals in mind?
“The coolest thing about Invisalign Smile Architect is that everything happens as an unbroken chain of events. Especially for those general dentists who collaborate a lot with orthodontists, prosthodontists and labs, Invisalign Smile Architect is designed to speak a universal language. In addition, in my view, dentist-patient communication is elevated.”
— Dr Soto
“Invisalign Smile Architect is easy to use. Even with a ton of new features, it is familiar and intuitive. To me, the platform has entry points for everyone. The software can give you a plan for all ranges of Invisalign treatment followed by restorative work. You can plan it completely yourself or share with lab technicians and specialists to optimize the design from all points of view. Dentists will quickly see the opportunity to plan more comprehensive and/or elective dentistry. And, as a communication tool, patients will have less resistance getting on board than ever before.”
Dr Reingold
“I initially thought Invisalign Smile Architect was better suited for full-mouth rehabilitation cases. However, after I started using it, I immediately recognized its value in my practice. Invisalign Smile Architect is my go-to solution. In my view, this technology will bring comfort and confidence to dentists.”

Our thought leaders agree that predictability is of paramount importance when starting an ortho-restorative case.
How does Invisalign Smile Architect™ help you start with the end in mind?
“Invisalign Smile Architect is spectacular because you can visualize the result and all the steps in between. In my experience, this boosts confidence for both the dentist and the patient. The industry needs this.”
Dr Reingold
“Many dentists working on Invisalign® cases spend too much chair time on their cases because they have not set up their cases predictably. From my perspective, outcomes are more predictable for the orthodontic component with Invisalign Smile Architect, and we no longer need to do temporaries for the restorative component.”
Dr Blancher
“Invisalign Smile Architect provides an efficient way to look at the big picture. To anyone still using traditional wax-ups, I would say that there is no point in compartmentalizing each step of your workflow and trying to manually bring it all together. We need to think comprehensively.”
Dr Soto
Our thought leaders feel that keeping patients looped in during treatment planning is key to their success with Invisalign Smile Architect.
How does Invisalign Smile Architect™ help you start with the end in mind?
“Some of my patients want their treatments done quickly. This is an opportunity for me to take advantage of Invisalign Smile Architect and educate my patients on why ortho-restorative treatment may be better for them in the long run. In my experience, it can ultimately increase the likelihood of case acceptance to show and explain the long-term plan to a patient.”
Dr Blancher
“I envision that Invisalign Smile Architect will slowly but surely begin changing what it means to go into the dentist’s office. In my view, patients can see a simulation of the esthetic possibilities even before they knew they needed it. They can also visualize their targeted ortho-restorative treatment outcome before even starting their actual treatment.”
Dr Soto
“We are turning the corner to where it won’t be called digital dentistry, but just dentistry. The Smile Architect digital workflow is the tipping point, and I’m hard-pressed to see a future where we must explain the difference between digital and analog.”
Dr Reingold
